#Likeagirl

Hey Y'all,
I don't know if you have seen this commercial lately that Always did.. If not, please take the next 3 minutes to watch it! I love the message that Always is trying to get across. I've been wondering the same question since watching this for the first time! When did "like a girl" become an insult? I think more teenagers and young women need to go back and watch Mulan and Hunger Games, and be inspired by the strength and girl power that characters like Mulan and Katniss show (there are others, but these two are my favorites)!

It's sad to watch this and see just how these women think about being a girl. Yes, girls may not be as strong or as powerfully as men.. but think of all the things that women have accomplished! Think of everything that us girls do each and every day! Do you really think a man could give birth or have a period? Just think about that "what if" for a second... I seriously don't think a guy could handle something like that "like a girl".

I loved seeing how the younger girls thought about being a girl! It's very inspirational, and just made me smile. They are much more confident in being a girl than most grown women are.. and that's what is truly sad about this whole thing. I guess what I'm trying to say is.. You don't need to be ashamed or insulted about being a girl. You need to be strong and confident and believe in yourself. Listen to what the girl in the blue dress says closer to the end: "Keep doing it, cause it's working. If somebody else says that running like a girl, or kicking like a girl, or shooting like a girl is something that you shouldn't be doing, that's their problem. Because if you're still scoring, and you're still getting to the ball, and you're still being first.. You're doing it right. It doesn't matter what they say. I mean, Yes! I kick like a girl, and I swim like a girl, and I walk like a girl, and I wake up in the morning like a girl... Because I am a girl. And that is not something that I should be ashamed of, so I'm going to do it anyway. That's what they should do."

What do you think about the video?
